I think most companies are wasting their money on news release distribution services. I argue that instead of sending huge “blasts,” you should focus on building relationships with media outlets directly. Sure, there’s work involved—but the potential payoff is much greater.
I don’t know what the answer is to scrapping press releases altogether, but I’m searching for solutions and will let you know what I come up with!
