Ads are everywhere. Or so the experts would have us believe.
I’ve seen a lot of crazy stats, indicating the average person is exposed to upwards of 4,000-5,000 ads daily.
Personally, I don’t believe it’s that high—but I know it’s a lot. Probably a couple hundred is a more realistic number.
Try this experiment for a couple days: be as mindful as you can when you come across “ads.” With everything from yard signs promoting something to brand stickers on light poles to digital ads, ad infinitum…there is no shortage of places where companies try to beckon to us.
The real benefit of this exercise is to pay close attention to anything that sticks out in your mind, and why. You might pick up some good clues from the outliers.
Or you might decide that repetition still works best for companies (or individuals) to stay top-of-mind. Consistency usually beats creativity in the long run.
That’s my ad for the week. And yes, it’s intentional—one more way for me to stand out in a very crowded sea of messages.
