Hey friends!
I hate startup pitch competitions. There, I said it. I think they are the beauty contests of the business world. Why? Because they are about who’s telling the “best story”, and not about who potentially has the best business.
I also see this happening with people who have ideas. Especially the people who are looking for others to join them. For example:
When you (think you) need someone technical to join your early-stage startup, think to yourself: WHY would someone join you?🤔
❌ Again, your pitch is “just a story”. Would you make a decision based on that?
❌ The idea’s “promise” (HUUUGE as Trump would say) is just your opinion
✅ What did YOU do to gather evidence?
✅ What does it tell you?
You have to walk and don’t just talk.
When you have committed the time and energy to go out there and find the evidence that your amazing idea should in fact exist, you have given yourself the credibility to pitch it to other people. So please, do not approach it like this 👇😉
