BrainPint #12 - Ideas

Hi friends,

I launched my e-commerce site on Tuesday. It’s far from perfect but hey, it’s the Build > Measure > Learn cycle.

I’m someone who learns through experimenting so I like to take problems, have a crack at them, ask others for advice, implement and constantly improve.

Even at an early stage I’ve already learned so much.

Outside of work, I encourage you to take on your own side projects for fun - follow your curiosity and you’ll be able to learn a ton.

I’m taking on another interesting project with KP and Pierre soon and am thrilled!

Alternatives, Not Competitors

“You should rarely think about competitors, because competitors are rarely who you are truly competing with. Most products are competing with alternatives. Alternatives are the other ways your target audience are solving the problem today.”

How do you find your alternatives?

Ask your existing customers, what problem does the product solve for them?
Then, go to non-customers in your target audience. Ask them “When was the last time you had this problem? Walk me through step by step how you solved the problem.”
Then ask yourself, how do you provide a 10x experience for them.
