So many stories this week, I don’t even know where to start!
I’m so excited for Joshua Browder and all the work he’s doing around his DoNotPay bot. It has expanded in a major way, and it’s helping tons of people figure out how to navigate tricky legal situations.
Bots for good, people. It’s the future.

Building chatbots: Why message length matters
When people ask me why they should use a bot instead of a form or website, my immediate response is that chatbots are more engaging than conventional means of communication. At the crux of this argument is an innocuous characteristic of chat that most people take for granted: message length.
Podcast: Could You Kill A Robot?
Will we one day create machines that are essentially just like us? People have been wrestling with that question since the advent of robotics. But maybe we’re missing another, even more intriguing question: what can robots teach us about ourselves? We ponder that question with Kate Darling of the MIT Media Lab in a special taping at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

Why building an AI company should not remind you of a blind date
It’s easy to start an AI company. All you need is an idea and some funding, right? Not so fast, say two experts who are known for building well-known conversational UI platforms. It’s a difficult and time-consuming process, one that requires extraordinary effort. And it is a highly competitive market. Funding alone won’t make it work.

Events
Join us for a panel on how chatbots are transforming the education space. We will discuss how bots are changing the way people learn and how they enhance students’ experiences. We will also be talking about the development of the bot ecosystem and how to adapt as the environment continues to change.
In this meeting, we will talk about some basic building blocks needed to create a bot and then start right into a hands-on lab where you can build your own bot.  Hopefully, you can take what you learn and use It to compete in the Bot-A-Thon 1.0. If you have written a bot before, then come and check out Microsofts bot platform.
We will discuss those API (API.AI, Watson, Amazon Lex) availabe today and how they can be consumed to build more user friendly applications.
