It’s a snow day here in Elk City, America
. At about 8:00 am this morning it started snowing heavily. It’s been reported that we could get between 2 to 4 inches. At the time I’m writing this the rooftops and grass covered areas have a nice dusting on them. Snow makes me happy. I often say, “you can’t be blue when there’s snow on the ground.”
However, I wish this were always true. Along with the snow comes the long dark teatime of the soul we call winter. The annual time shift doesn’t help things either. It’s now near dark when you get home from work. So those of us with jobs inside, we might not see the sun at all some days. The lack of light and the isolation winter can bring can affect some with Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD). SAD is a form of depression that occurs during the change in seasons. I’m not immune to SAD. There are days where winter just drags on me, and it just compounds my “regular” bouts of melancholy. (I’m okay by the way. I sought help.)
The universe is a strange place. I had picked this topic last night and jotted down a few notes. So, this morning I could get this typed up and publish the newsletter in a timely manner. Otherwise known as I kept putting it off. Procrastination is a hell of a drug. Anyway, by a quirk of the universe, this morning NonDoc
