Big things you need to know today
- 12 alleged Russian hackers have been indicted in the Mueller investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 US election.
- The full version of Photoshop is coming to the iPad, Bloomberg reports. “We need to bring our products into this cloud-first collaborative era,” says Adobe’s Scott Belsky. Expect more details in October.
- Microsoft wants the US government to regulate face recognition. It’s not very often you see a big tech company wanting more regulation.
- The quieter keys on the new MacBook Pros may be a side effect of an attempt by Apple to make them more reliable. iFixit has found a new silicone barrier under each key, similar to a patent application related to protecting keys.
- Increased Russian cyberattacks on the US are a warning akin to the increased terrorist activity before 9/11, the US director of national intelligence says. He says Russia and others are trying to infiltrate the country’s energy, water, nuclear and manufacturing sectors. The question is, upon which countries is the US trying the same thing?
- WeWork will no longer pay for meat. The workspace company’s new worldwide rule means employees can no longer expense meals that include meat, or offer meat at WeWork events. “Avoiding meat is one of the biggest things an individual can do to reduce their personal environmental impact,” the company’s CEO says.
