There’s been lots of speculation about Tesla’s troubled production methods for its mass-market Model 3. The New York Times takes a look at the factory (and interviews Elon Musk at 3am), and discovers just how ‘beta test’ the whole thing feels. Tesla is overclocking robots and changing welding designs on the fly to work out what’s most effective. This is either brilliant or stupid when tried on cars that customers will end up driving.
