Adam's 5 Finds - When To Book Flights | Psychology of Advertisement
By Adam Egger • Issue #25 • View online
Hi friends,
wow, this is already the 25th issue of my newsletter! This time you’ll find a few interesting things I discovered this week like a fantastic flight price checker, an inspiring singer, and especially a wonderful British podcast episode.
Enjoy!

Great Online Service - When To Book A Flight
Do you sometimes try to find out when to book a long-distance flight? Do you know when to book a domestic flight? The skyscanner service will tell you. Search, click on “Show Whole Month” and click on “Show Cheapest Month”. Voila!
The answer is in general: domestic flights are cheapest when booked 8 weeks before the flight, long-distance flights 19 weeks before.
Here’s an example for flights from Frankfurt to Mallorca:
Podcast of The Week - Secrets of Advertising
I learned a lot about psychology of advertising and how to sell more from this interesting podcast episode with Rory Sutherland, a wonderful British advertising executive. Listen to these two hours if you want to learn how we make our decisions, how to sell more by changing the context of your product, what drives private decisions, what drives decisions in a corporate setting. Fantastic!
“We are post-rationalizing animals. When we give a reason for an emotional state it’s a plausibly sounding narrative that’s invented in the aftermath of us experiencing this emotion.” Rory Sutherland
Solutions for Anti-Science, Fake News
Neil deGrasse Tyson is a scientist who describes difficult things in an easy way (see his latest book Astrophysics for People in a Hurry). He was interviewed by the great YouTube Channel “Big Think” about ways to solve the growing science skepticism. Spend 11 minutes to listen him talking about Science, Abraham Lincoln, Immigrants, and the Fading of America.

Inspiration of The Week
Watch this if you need proof that you should never give up on your dreams. This girl is completely deaf. Impressive and inspiring!

Quote I Love
Devote your attention to things that interest you, not things you dislike.
It’s so easy to focus on things you don’t like or on “the others”. Instead we should focus on what interests us, what inspires us. Try to be a positive example for people around.
Have a great positive week, all
Adam
