Tuesday April 5
Party with the Rabbits

Celebrate the arrival of INTRUDE, a large-scale public artwork by Amanda Parer, with 5 inflated and illuminated rabbits, 5 Off the Grid food trucks, beer and wine garden, and music to dance to.
Silent Reading Party
Hotel Rex 路 6pm 路 Free
Bring a book to read in absolute silence. Cocktails and food will be available. Every first Tuesday in the Literary Lounge at Hotel Rex.
Karen X. Cheng, famous for her videos which have over 40 million views and have been featured on Good Morning America, Buzzfeed, and Ellen, will be hosting an interactive discussion on creating viral YouTube content, sharing her tips and strategies for creating and marketing viral videos, as well as a Q&A.
Bouquets to Art 2016

See arrangements by some of the most innovative floral designers in the Bay Area and beyond, inspired by works from the de Young鈥檚 permanent collection. Enjoy a lecture, make a reservation for one of the week鈥檚 elegant seated luncheons, and take a chance on the luxury-prize raffle.聽From peonies and Picasso to hydrangeas and Hockney, art and nature come together to spectacular effect during Bouquets to Art, on view in our galleries from April 5th through 10th.

Classical Revolution

Meditation as an API

HackReactor tech mentor Chin Yun will teach about a traditional Chinese form called Yi Chuan, which offers meditation in motion, for those of us with sedentary lifestyles looking for a way to do meditation 鈥渙ff the cushion.鈥 With this view we consider meditation (perhaps even religion) as an API of sorts that just comes in many different flavors to get to the same truths in the end.聽
EMoM: What Is Awe And How Does It Influence Our Behavior?

Artificial Intelligence and Art w/ Jerry Kaplan and Kal Spelletich

Hear Jerry and Kal discuss their perspectives on the intersection of art and artificial intelligence, and how humans might leverage this emerging technology creatively, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be human. Jerry Kaplan is an expert on AI, a technical innovator, best-selling author, and futurist. Kal Spelletich is an artist who has been experimenting with the interface between humans and technology for over 28 years, and his聽robotic sculptures bring inanimate objects to life.
This workshop provides an introduction to the philosophies and concepts within Chinese medicine. It鈥檚 every Thursday and starts on April 7 and ends May 5. Participants will learn about 鈥淨i鈥 (the life force), acupuncture, Chinese herbs, tongue and pulse diagnosis, yin and yang, 5 elements, and the Chinese concept of internal organs. Discover more about this traditional medicine, which has provided health and relief for over 2,500 years.

To showcase and support Isao Takahata鈥檚 fierce independence, we鈥檒l be hosting screenings of four of his strongest achievements, including Only Yesterday, Grave of the Fireflies, My Neighbors the Yamadas, and Pom Poko. Throughout his illustrious, varied career, Takahata has repeatedly proven to be unbound by convention or expectations. At all costs, he makes the films he wants to make.

Transformational Breathwork w/ Alex Rosan

AcroYoga workshop

Our 1st workshop (Creative Explorations) will cover the fundamentals of AcroYoga, as we play with fun partner exercises, group games, static partner poses, and transitions.聽This workshop will focus on bringing more creativity, fluidity, and grace into our AcroYoga connection.
Our 2nd Workshop (Washing Machines) will help you find greater stability in intermediate poses before moving on to more dynamic washing machines. We鈥檒l work on classic AcroYoga washing machines that will advance your practice and prepare you for higher level acro classes.聽
