Thank You, MICE!
We want to thank everyone who came by our booth last week at MICE! Whether it was to buy a tamper, grab a coffee from a super-automatic espresso machine, or just say hi — we really felt the love! Extra special thanks to Eversys, Decent Espresso, Onyx Coffee Lab, St. Ali, Koppi, Cafe Lomi, and George Howell for helping us pull together a really interactive and fun booth. Until next year! 🎉
Short & Sweet: MICE 2018 Recap - YouTube
Gearing Up For Seattle
Most of the crew will be heading to Seattle, Washington in a few weeks for the Global Specialty Coffee Expo. We’ll be scoping the floor for super cool equipment and booths (hit us up if you know any!) so don’t hesitate to stop any of us and say hello!
If you’re a roaster interested in learning more about being a part of the Superlatives program, let’s talk face-to-face! One of our favorite Superlatives coffees from Gardelli (December’s Mzungu Project) happened after meeting at HOST Milan. Opportunities to meet roasters in person are rare, so we try to take them whenever we can.

• Our resident tea expert, Ayden is trying to make tea sexy but accessible, which means no bullshit. We can get behind that.
• Come for the press release, stay for the YouTube clip with all the echoes as “Dr. Coffee”, Christopher Hendon, talks about his research into reproducibility in espresso.
• “I’m happy to lean in, but I don’t always want to fight,“ said by our own Michelle at last week’s Barista Connect event. Check out the recap here.
• It’s always interesting to take a page from another industry’s book and apply it to coffee. It’s even more interesting when it’s cannabis and California-grown coffee.
• We all know coffee releases CO2 after it’s roasted, but the folks at Zurich University of Applied Sciences Coffee Excellence Center have actually quantified it. This is cool stuff!
Champion Superlatives
If you secured a bag for Small Batch Roasting Co, your order will be headed your way in just a few days! For May, we’re sticking with another Australian roaster, Ben Toovey of Genovese Coffee. Ben is our recently crowned Australian Roasting Champion, so we know he’s going to give us something truly special for May. 👑
Cupping bowls are currently sold out, but it shouldn’t be long before they’re back! We’ll keep you posted. :)
See You Next Month!
