Happy Friday, everyone! Since we announced our block producer candidacy, we’ve also been quietly running a proxy on the network called auroraeosprx. We’ve written a lot about the importance of proxies and what they mean for EOS governance. But with the introduction of referendum, proxies are more important than ever. Not only do they vote for BPs on behalf of token holders, but they also can vote in general referenda to help guide the evolution of the network. It’s no secret to anyone who follows our work that we take network governance very seriously, and we’ll be using our proxy to actively vote on new proposals. We’ve already voted on a few, and we always announce those votes and our reasoning publicly on Twitter. All voting information is also available on-chain. If you’re a token holder who wants to put your votes to work, please feel free to proxy your vote to us. It can be done quite easily using any of the major wallets, including Ledger. Reach out directly if you have any questions! Myles Snider, CEO

Eva, a decentralized Uber
If you can read French, check out this article about a Montreal-based ridesharing app built on EOS called Eva. The organization recently got an official license to being operating within the city’s limits. Eva, in my opinion, isn’t quite a “dApp,” since so much of its stack is still centralized in some way. But it is an interesting experiment, and perhaps it will distribute control over time. What’s most exciting about what they are doing is that they are challenging Uber, Lyft, and other incumbents by taking a much smaller cut of the ride fee.

EOS Inbox
This is an awesome proof-of-concept! A developer has managed to clone the look and feel of a Gmail inbox but for EOS accounts. The backend is powered entirely by dfuse. Right now it functions like a block explorer, but hopefully this service will link with Scatter or Ledger and users will soon be able to interact with their accounts in the same way they interact with email today.

EOS Dividends
Dividend-paying tokens seem like a major trend for EOS dApps these days. Wilfra has put together a cool, simple site for viewing returns from different EOS-based dApp tokens. I think we’ll see a lot of teams experiment with different models this year, so keep an eye on this site.

BOS Interblockchain Communication (IBC)
BOS, the first major EOSIO chain to launch in 2019, has officially gone live with their implementation of inter-blockchain communication (IBC). This is a pretty big deal, as users can now trustlessly move funds between different EOSIO chains. Our developers are still taking a closer look at this, but we’re excited about the research and work being put in on this front.
