The Week in EOS.

One thing that we’re extremely excited about this week is the increased conversation around arbitration on EOS. We’ve long been critics of ECAF and mandatory arbitration, and the tide seems to be turning in the overall EOS community. It seems that the first ECAF ruling caused a lot of people to reconsider the long-term viability of such a setup.
We wrote a long-form article this week about mandatory arbitration, and we’ve seen a number of other prominent community members come forward with similar criticisms. More and more BP teams are publicly stating their views on arbitration, and the consensus seems to be slowly forming; base-layer arbitration is insecure, cannot scale, and should be removed from the constitution. As the referendum contracts continue to be developed and we move towards a public vote on EOS, this is one of the issues most likely to come forward.
We plan to introduce a referendum to remove Article IX from the current constitution in order to eliminate any base-layer arbitrator with special privileges. We’ve received a number of thoughtful responses to our article and proposal, and we encourage the community to continue having this important conversation. Please feel free to reach out in any of our channels with comments, questions, or feedback.
Finally, be on the lookout for a special announcement from Aurora EOS this coming week. We’ve been quietly working on a number of awesome initiatives, and we’re excited to finally go live with one of them!
