Well, we’ve certainly picked a hot topic… shouldn’t have a hard time finding material for the next few weeks. I’ll try to keep focused on the (shared) future. 
The Economist presents a sweeping article that reflects growing Western alarm at the challenge Chinese tech leadership poses in economic, geopolitical, and values competition - beginning to be reflected in policy.
–China will build global, space-based internet coverage through a satellite network. Is the U.S. doing things like this and I am just not reading about them? Anyone there thinking long term besides Elon
–Fascinating Pandaily comparison of how China’s first tier cities are specializing in their development of and expertise around blockchain technology. China will build a “Silicon Valley” for each emerging tech.
–This excellent Bain report on China’s New Retail shows the extent to which Jack Ma’s O2O vision is being realized in China, and can be exported by Chinese companies. 
–Chinese and Western tech giants clash over Southeast Asian consumers to expand commercial infrastructure in emerging markets.  
–New AI translation promises to make Chinese easier to decipher, but let’s see it convey cultural differences, allusions, slang, or the mindset that situates Chinese language in a high-context culture
–Cool MIT Technology Review article that surveys China’s AI landscape, including many names of the people and projects to watch. 
–China has surpassed the UK as the world’s second largest market for art
