Quick recap. Try Swift workshop was a challenge. I had huge technical issues. But in the end, I was able to pull off a somewhat useful workshop. It turns out green screening, running Xcode on Zoom call saturates and M1 CPU. Ouch!!
Kids were ill
I was planning on pushing this email last Friday, but then life happened. First, my son came down with a case of chickenpox on Friday. The little guy was very uncomfortable due to all the itchiness. Fortunately for him, he was through the worst of it on Saturday. Still a high temperature, but all the spots were already crusting over. I know sounds horrible.
Saturday evening my daughter started showing symptoms. She has been running a high fever on and off since then, and today, on Monday it looks she is improving. But Basically, she has been feeling very very itchy for over 2 days now.
Three nights in a row with broken sleep. It has been a while since our night’s sleep was that bad.
On Swift Heroes
Last week the Swift Heroes line-up was also announced. And boy did they make a bad judgment call. Now I understand wanting to get the best line-up for a conf. But putting a line-up online with a severe lack of diversity does not look good. Within Stream, we immediately had a discussion on this and we decided to reach out to the organizers. They admitted the error of their way and are working on getting a more representative line-up online.
Organizing conferences is NOT easy. So much stuff to do and so many things you have to think about. I really look forward to the additions they are sure to be adding to it in the coming days.
This week it is time to start looking back on Q1 already and start making plans for Q2. Very much looking forward to the rest of this year.
Oh and my podcast now has over 150 published episodes. 🔥
Best,
Jeroen
