My birthday may have been back in January, but my present arrived this week! Julie took me to see Alton Brown’s Eat Your Science show at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids, and it was an event to remember.
We snagged Five Guys on the way out of town and arrived in GR with time to meet up with friends in the lobby before heading up to the mezzanine level where our seats were located. Then things got interesting.
On the way up the stairs, a guy stopped us and introduced himself as Alton’s tour manager. He asked if we’d be interested in some better seats, to which we said, “um, yes.” We then found ourselves in H row center in the orchestra section – amazing.
I don’t even know how to describe the show – part stand-up, part concert, part food, part science, and all fun. Whether you’re an AB fan going back to Good Eats or have never heard of him, Eat Your Science is a show you’ll love.
The highlight for me? The Q&A segment at the end of the show. Alton took questions via Twitter, and the one Julie and I posted was picked! We asked him the most important question for any Tulip Time attendee: funnel cake or elephant ear? Alton said elephant ear, but c’mon, no one’s right about everything. 😏
