Welp, it’s Tulip Time
here in Holland, Michigan, and as I write this from my office desk, I can hear the tour buses in the staging area across the street and the excitement growing downtown as folks arrive for this afternoon’s Kinderparade
I know many locals don’t care for Tulip Time, what with its influx of tourists and “traffic” (have these people ever been in real traffic?). But I actually find Tulip Time — or Stem Fest, as it’s called in warmer years — quite charming. I mean, c’mon, you can watch Dutch Dancing
and eat funnel cakes every night of the week for 8 days straight. What’s not to love?
