This middle week in April is a big one for my office here at Hope College, as each year we welcome 200+ high school juniors and 350+ admitted seniors for two huge visit experiences – Junior Day and Admitted Student Day, respectively.
For so many of the juniors, this is the beginning of their college search, and we look to set a high bar. By contrast, our admitted seniors are often coming for a return visit to Hope, many of them to make a final decision. I’m completing my 11th year on staff at Hope, and I never tire of this season. It’s a privilege to serve these students and the college in this way.
So that’s my update for this week. Next week we’ll continue to press on towards our admitted students’ decision deadline, and I’m excited to welcome our class of 2020 (!) late this summer. Go Hope!

We’ve adopted a unique tradition for Sunday night suppers – homemade popcorn (yes, popcorn) is our main entrée. Since the popcorn preparation is my domain, I’ll be excited to try these variations from our pal Alton Brown.
