Like most kids born in the 1980s, I grew up watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood on PBS. I can remember King Friday, Mr. McFeely, Picture Picture and all the rest. So when news broke this week that Tom Hanks would be playing Mr. Rogers in a movie about Fred’s life, I was just elated. How perfect is that casting?
Fred Rogers deserves to be remembered for his kindness, his heart of a teacher, and his quiet faith. I only ever knew him as the gentleman (in the truest sense of the word) on TV, but his actions, words and songs remain vibrant memories from my childhood. I’m so grateful for his legacy.
