Good evening, on this frosty Tuesday night. Or as an #alternativefact, it was positively Maldives-like today in the UK (in my living room). If you’ve not seen the new trend for offering “alternative facts” to actual fact as a media tool, perhaps a revisit of George Orwell’s 1984 would be of interest. In fact, since Kellyann Conway’s declaration of “alternative facts” surrounding Trump’s inauguration, the book has shot back into the bestseller list just a few hours ago.
Here’s what we’re being asked for this week - and for those planning media outreach in the next 7 days, hot topics to consider are city breaks, travel, skiing, big data value, Valentine’s Day, health & fitness for 2017 and of course Brexit related insight.

Spying for The Daily Telegraph - The Telegraph is looking to speak to experts from the world of private espionage, or corporate espionage for a feature about the business of spying. Is the industry booming? Deadline: 25th Jan at 3pm.
“PetTech” for the London Metro - Apps, gadgets and gizmos relating to pets. If you build it the Metro wants to hear from you :) Deadline: 27th Jan.
Government borrowing comment for Finance Monthly - looking for thoughts on the UK Government borrowing falling in December Ref: UK Gov borrowing in 2016 was at around £10.6bn lower than 2015. Ideally looking for commentary from business experts, market analysts, politics experts experts, anywhere between 300 to 500 words each. Deadline 31st Jan.
Influencer Marketing for - Site for startups looking for a marketing expert or someone with an authority in influencer marketing to draft 600-800 words on what influencer marketing is, how it works, how businesses can use/contact social influencers, how influencer marketing can benefit start-ups and small businesses, plus a few examples to back up the points made.They will give the author a byline and a hyperlink. Deadline 27th Jan.
Boosting radio signal for Which? - The eponymous consumer guide is looking to speak with a radio expert who can run them through a few ways you can boost a radio’s reception - both for DAB and FM. Deadline 27th Jan.
Tech in HR for The Spectator - Looking to talk to founders or those in HR about topics such as radical candour, fitness at work and mental wellbeing + tech developments for the HR world. Deadline: 28th Jan.
What it means to be a female entrepreneur for StyleNest Looking for quotes/soundbites for an article on female entrepreneurship. It will just involve a brief question or two by email and they can link to websites. Deadline 27th Jan.
Feature suggestions for Gentleman’s Journal - Looking for stories, profiles, and interviews that would appeal to affluent and intelligent readers. Will give precedence to any stories that will still be current at the date of publication (May 2017). Their mainly male readership are interested in high luxury content and any pitches should be tailored towards their interests. Deadline end of Jan.
