Check out this honest look of a ‘day in the life’ of an accountant working from home.
@jasonfried I work in accounting. The accounting industry would be great for leveraging remote work, yet a lot of businesses want their accountant to be there in person. What can we do about that?
This is a great question: What can we do about that?
As accounting pros, first off, we need to be more vocal about our desire to work remotely with our current employers.
With the high number of applicants competing for the low supply of remote jobs, there’s no better place to start than with a conversation with your current employer for easing into remote work.
Secondly, as tech-savvy employees, we need to be the ones taking the initiative to learn/implement the cloud accounting software and remote collaboration tools to allow us the freedom to roam outside the office.
Many employers just don’t know where to start with updating technology and sadly, aren’t even aware of the cloud options that exist in the marketplace.
As frustrating as it is to wait around for employers to adopt more remote flexibility, it’s on each of us to make the change we want to see in our workplaces.
tis the season to be nocksie falalala
The tech workforce is moving toward remote work. So are some others (I have friends I accounting who do remote as days as well). And I do think ideally if you *can* do your job from anywhere you *should*
Don’t you think if you *can* do your job from anywhere, you *should*?
That’s it for this roundup, thanks for reading.
