Intelligence is not reason, logic, the very careful dialectical explanation, that’s not intelligence - that’s merely the exposition of thought in different forms. Thought is never intelligent. If it was our world would be different. - Krishnamurti

Community Corner From Jamie!
Our Community Corner this week comes from Jamie Harig! We are kindred tutu wearing yoga studios and Jamie made sure she was Yoga Vermont 108th patron! And she gave us the gift to be their 108th Patron!! Congrats Jamie, Scott, and AOP!
From Jamie:
Ashtanga Open Practice began in 2013 when Pure yoga NYC was considering canceling their West Side ashtanga program. Scott Harig stepped up, with a mix of liberal ashtanga experiences in his background, including training with Richard Freeman and David Swenson. Scott began the program with an open heart and open mind. AOP, as it was quickly nicknamed, became a place for not just the foundations of breathing and postures but for exploration and play. It became an extremely strong community, known for it’s celebrations and friendships as much as for asana. Jamie joined about a year into the program very ready to begin a 6 day a week practice and coming in slipping all over her mat after her first rest day still slick from an oil bath (cause she read that’s what ashtangis do). Scott and Jamie were married 2 years after meeting and at one point, before Pure closing for Covid, they were running ashtanga programs at Pure Yoga, NYC on both the West and East side locations.  They have continued their studies of ashtanga with Manju Jois who has enforced the importance of playing and enjoying your practice. Jamie visited Vermont last summer for David Swenson’s workshop and immediately connected to Kathy’s loving, welcoming and playful energy. Keeping in touch and informed of Yoga Vermont’s happenings and seeing how they moved the community so seamlessly online. When Pure yoga shut down, AOP made a Patreon page and followed Yoga Vermont’s lead! AOP is forever and always grateful for the open loving community at Yoga Vermont and for the inspiration on how to keep our crew together in this virtual yoga world! One day we will all celebrate in person! But until then let’s continue to celebrate on zoom! We will leave you with one of our all time favorite ashtanga quotes, “We love you and everyone you love!” #kathy Thank you Kathy, Sarah and your beautiful tribe!
