For some Triptico users, this week will be the first week of the new school year.
You may have new classes - and it is very easy to add these classes to Triptico for use with a variety of different resources.
Remember that the same saved Triptico file can be opened with lots of different, interactive resources!
'How do I create a class list?'
You begin by clicking the ‘Create’ button:
Click 'Create' whenever you want to create something new with Triptico

You can add a new name to each card or - if you have the class list available to copy - you can save time by pasting it directly into Triptico:
Click 'Options' > 'Import Data' > 'Paste' > 'Add' - and your list is ready to save! Easy!

As you can see, creating a new class list takes seconds!
'What can I do with a class list?'
There are many ways that you can use a class list with Triptico - let’s look at a few examples…
Note: The images are clickable - so you can give each resource a try!

You can open your class list with the Group resource - click and drag to the right to quickly put your students into groups!
You can even use this resource to make selections (click and drag to the left) once students have been placed in groups. A quick, simple and very useful classroom tool!
Make instant selections from your class list with Triptico's Pull Selector!

The same class list can also be opened with a selector - such as the Pull Selector.
There are other selectors that you can try, such as the Spinner (pictured at the top of this newsletter) or this selector - which adds a little tension to the process!

You can even open your class list as moveable magnets - with a multitude of uses!
When I am running workshops, I often add a background image to Word Magnets to generate a snapshot of the group I am working with.
Each participant moves their magnet, resizes it and chooses a colour to reflect their feelings about using Triptico in the classroom:
Open a class list with Word Magnets to gather feelings about a particular topic!
Open a class list with Word Magnets to gather feelings about a particular topic!
We then revisit the activity at the end of the workshop and see if people’s opinions and feelings have changed - hopefully in a positive way!
An activity like this could be used when starting a new topic with a class, running staff training or during a department meeting.
In short, Word Magnets is a very versatile resource!
Combine a class list with Triptico's Task Spinner!

You can even combine a class list with questions or tasks - as shown in the example above.
The Task Spinner randomly allocates questions, but you could differentiate an activity by editing your class list, adding a specific question to each name and then opening it with a spinner, for example.
You can edit a class list and link specific questions or tasks to a name.

Remember: All of these examples use the same saved class list - which took us seconds to create!
'What if a student in my class is absent?'
No problem at all - you can make temporary changes to your class list before opening it.
Simple click the ‘Preview’ button, remove any absent students and then choose a resource to open the list with:
Make temporary changes to a saved file with the 'Preview' button.

'What if a new student joins my class?'
It is very easy to make changes to a saved file - simply click the ‘Edit’ button, add or remove names (or questions, key words, tasks etc) and then save the file.
Tip: If you would like to keep the old version of the file then simply give the new file a different name. Useful to know!
