The Flutter Bi-Weekly - Issue #4
By Neevash Ramdial (Nash) • Issue #4 • View online

It’s hard to believe that this release is the fourth version of The Flutter Bi-Weekly; where did the time go!
Thank you to everyone who subscribed, provided feedback, and, most importantly, created excellent Flutter content for the community.
To give back, I thought it would be fun to give away a free copy of Razeware’s Flutter Apprentice to a random subscriber. Check out this tweet for instructions on how to enter.
Blogs ✍️
Hasan Basri Bayat walks us through ObjectBox’s new AutoSync feature and why he thinks it is a game-changer for performance.
Who does not like to save money (and time)?!
Guillaume Bernos teaches us to reduce our CI/CD bill by making minor tweaks to our golden tests.
Did you know Flutter can also be used to build interactive games?
Erick Zanardo from the Flame team gives us a breakdown of building a simple interactive game using the Flame engine and Bloc!
Micro-interactions are a key part of every user experience. They make our apps feel alive and greatly improve the overall user experience when done correctly.
Alejandro Ulate Fallas of the Raywenderlich team teaches us to use Flutter’s AnimatedSwitcher to implement micro-interactions in our application.
Everyone dislikes loading screens, they feel clunky, and in most cases, users are left watching a spinning circle until your content is ready.
Lucky for us, Ayush Pawar wrote a great piece on how you can implement a shimmer loader in your Flutter applications. The perfect way to give your users a hint of the final content with a nice animation as they wait.
Videos 🎥
The dream of building your application entirely in Dart may be closer than you think. In his latest video, Pawan Kumaar gives us a taste of Serverpod, a new backend framework for Dart made by a former member of the Flutter team.
When it comes to animations and Slivers, the possibilities are endless. In his latest Flutter Challange, Diego Velasquez shows us how you can implement an animated sticky header in Flutter 😎.
When it comes to authentication in Flutter, there are many services you can implement to grant access to your application securely. If you are considering using Facebook as a form of authentication in your next application, then Lazy TechNo made this tutorial just for you :)
Meetups and Flutter events are back in full swing!
Learn how you can have fun integrating Flutter and Firebase in Roman Jaquez’s latest workshop for GDG Dallas!
Are you having overflows or need to restrict the height of your widgets? Then fear not, Johannes Milke made a short tutorial teaching us a simple trick to solve this problem 🙌.
Noteworthy Community Moments 💫
If you are a Turkish speaker, I highly recommend checking out the Flutter Students Club Youtube page. There are many great videos on there covering many Flutter focus areas.
Flutter Heros 🦸‍♀️
In-person meetups are slowly coming back across the industry, and earlier this week, Flutter Heros reunited many Flutter Devs for a one-day event in Italy.
Check out the conference page to learn more or view the many excellent keynotes.
