A Brush with Life - Issue #73 New Show From Away
By Terrill Welch Gallery • Issue #73 • View online
Landscape painters, like the rest of us, yearn to freely travel again. There is something about discovering a new stream, stretch of beach or an alley in a centuries old city that will always easily spark inspiration. Right now, these adventures are on hold, even though the desire to explore is stronger than ever. To appease this driving urge, we are bringing you a collection of Terrill Welch’s paintings from away. These places stay strong in her memory through these landscape paintings and we want to share them with you. These are the places landscape painter Terrill Welch longs to visit again and again as we stay in place. Let’s go to Venice, Italy, Avignon and Aix en Provence in France. Or could it be Northern California that pulls on your heartstrings? Possibly, Prince Edward Island in Canada?

Snowshoeing Walks
The Terrill Welch Gallery currently has four shows available for your viewing and consideration. We will continue to bring your attention to various paintings by our six artists in these shows. So, when was the last time you were on an early Spring snowshoe walk in snow country? Do you remember the freedom of slide-stepping across the crust in between the poplar or spruce trees, where the snow is starting to melt away from the trunks of the trees? Do you remember getting up earlier in the newly minted longer days to get a few hours snowshoeing in through the bush and then trying to get back before the snow becomes soft and water soaked? These are the times that come to mind when viewing this painting by Annerose Georgeson.

Artist notes: My daughter gave me snowshoes for Christmas a few years ago. They’re great! I used to cross-country ski but snowshoeing gets me around better through the bush. I have some small trails at my place and usually take my dog for a snowshoe at least once on the weekend. Lots of paintings come from these snowshoe walks.

Wild Seas in the Sun with Terrill and Glenda
There is nothing quite like a stirred-up Strait of Georgia in the morning sunshine. I made a wish for a morning just like this, and it came true. Enjoy and happy Friday!

As you can see, we will both be at the easel fully engaged until there are bees in the spring flowers!
Until Next Time
We are in this time between being neither here nor there - a pronounced luminal space between winter and spring. This is often a time where the winter sluggishness starts to recede and we square up our shoulders with a skip in our earlier-than-usual morning steps. There are wee lambs with their ewes in the field below. Sun resting on our cheeks in the afternoon can have us smiling for no reason. A few days and weeks to savour, with red winged black birds singing in the willows. Enjoy this early beginning of spring until next time!
