Don’t feed the beast
By Startpage • Issue #35 • View online
Firstly, we are pleased to share that since our last newsletter about Apple’s plans to create a backdoor for image and message scanning, the company has put the project on hold. Organizations and Startpage are still standing firm, asking Apple to not only delay the project, but to end it. Please keep a watchful eye.
Secondly, this is a good reminder of “don’t feed the beast.” We should all keenly consider each piece of personal data, photos and messages we feed Big Tech. Each time you install a new product or send sensitive information online, be sure to ask yourself about the privacy implications and whether there is a more private alternative. In the following articles, we’ll address ways that you can do this and we’d like to hear from you about how you protect your data.
Thanks for caring about privacy,
Your Startpage team
