Friday Edition: No Takeaway

I’m working on some freelance projects today, so I’m sending along a handful of interesting links without an accompanying Takeaway section.
As always, I appreciate your readership, and I really appreciate the thought-provoking articles many of you share with me every week. So, in that vein, here is a formal request: if you come across a story or essay that stirred your soul or got the ol’ noggin fired up (as they say), do send it along! Additionally, if you come across a topic or story you’d like to see covered in The Preface, email me and, if the request fits with the general—and, admittedly, somewhat inchoate—focus of this newsletter, I will do my best to dig beneath the headlines and write something about it—something useful and illuminating, hopefully.
I hope you all have a lovely Memorial Day weekend, and I’ll catch you on Tuesday!
