Generative Art Drop #2

Thanks to all the Twitter support after sending out issue #1! 🖖
This might not seem like a big deal but I literally sent out a single tweet for promotion and we ended up with 13 subscribers and 122 web views. I’ve been a software engineer for about 20 years and if I’ve learned anything, it’s hard to start new things. It’s a natural human instinct to avoid new things. Going from zero to social validation is usually a slog. So thank you all for the initial support!
Enough of that. Let’s talk about art!

I’ve always been a fan of these impossible geometric constructions of twisting paths floating in space. Constructing these designs by hand is tricky. Making these generatively is a whole new level of hard.

I find this style of mixing hand drawn/painted elements in with generative code to be really interesting. It isn’t easy to programmatically create nice compositions. There is something a little sinister about these flying brain crabs wielding knives. But at the same time, I find the colors and use of soft noise to be rather soothing.

I love the animation on this collection. Watching these pleasingly curved lines intertwine and reveal a face is really beautiful. Less is more with this style. Revealing part of a face in the darkness provokes your imagination and tells a story without telling a story.

I plan to introduce a unique sponsorship model for this newsletter in the coming week to keep it free for readers. I’ll be introducing weekly generative art collections on fxhash. The collectors of the 3 most rare editions will be featured as sponsors. This should create a fun incentive for collecting Rasterly art.
Thanks again for the support!
