StarCraft is one of Blizzard’s most important franchises, but it’s been quiet for some time. Its last expansion was Legacy of the Void in 2015, and its last content pack was 2016’s Nova Covert Ops. The remaster of the original StarCraft came in 2017. But other than patches, the franchise hasn’t had anything all that new for some time.
What’s really disappointing is that StarCraft II’s 10th anniversary is coming in July. If Blizzard has any plans to celebrate this, it’ll be after the real-time strategy game turns 10. Yes, the studio may have give the aging franchise a spot onstage, maybe even make a new announcement.
But it would’ve been nice to have done so before StarCraft turned 10, not after.
