PC Gaming Weekly
Wednesday, the Entertainment Software Association called off the 2020 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The show had a number of drop-outs and problems heading up to this moment, and the coronavirus outbreak proved to be the tipping point.
But I’m confident that PC Gamer’s E3 PC Gaming Show will go on.
Turning The PC Gaming into a digital-only event is feasible. The game reveals include a great deal of recorded footage, so nothing changes there. And you could do many of the interviews and presentations ahead of time as well. Or you could do the interviews over a livestream, just like talking to someone in a live TV broadcast.
As far as the audience is concerned, most folks watched this as a livestream or a packaged video afterward, not in person. So you wouldn’t be losing much there.
And host Sean “Day9” Plott has years of showing he’s just fine at handling digital events and streams.
So, the question is – can PC Gamer and its partners pull off a recorded event over a live event for The PC Gaming Show?
I’m confident they can make it happen – and that we’ll see some cool PC gaming reveals in June.
