Origin stories, for families or businesses, often become important aspects of their identity. It’s important to keep them in the realm of the true, and not just because it’s the ethical thing to do: true stories, well-told, are often more interesting than fiction. And regarding cakes: the practice of the dumb cake is not something I’d want in any origin story.
