The End Of An Era 🦕

The End Of An Era 🦕

Hi friends!
It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? I’ve got to apologize as I clearly have not been as consistent in sending out my newsletters - but let’s address that in the next issue. This issue is actually 2- 3 weeks late, but I thought it was important to post it as I consider it one of the pivotal moments in my life.
News of the Month: After 7 glorious years, I’ve made the decision to leave Google, and have joined Tiktok / ByteDance as an Employer Branding Partner! 🎉
3 weeks in ByteDance / Tiktok, and it still feels incredibly surreal! In all honesty, I miss so many things about Google - especially the people who have become close friends / family. I obviously seriously considered my options, and what made sense for both my personal and career growth before making such huge decision - and without a doubt: I definitely made the right choice for myself.
When I left, people were kind enough to reach out to me to say bye - but also to share and reminisce about their experiences with me. It was filled with ‘warm-fuzzy’ moments, and my heart was just so full.
It’s great that I left on a good note - and when I look at what my ex-teammates are doing, I get a little FOMO. But I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity and experiences I’ve had at Google, and it was just time for me to move on to my next adventure.
The work in ByteDance / TikTok so far has been incredibly exciting, and most importantly, I get to continue creating content - for both my personal and professional life! I absolutely love that the company is so supportive of my creative endeavours.
For those who are newly subscribed - thanks for following my journey! I’ll be sure to share more life / productivity insights as I settle into the new job.
In the meantime, I hope all of you are keeping healthy and safe!
Till next time!
Jamie

My Favourite Things This Week 💛
Disney+ - Behind The Attraction
Most of you know that I’m a HUGE Disney fan, and whenever I visit any countries with Disneyland - WE HAVE TO MAKE A PIT STOP THERE.
So of course, after purchasing Disney+ a couple of months ago (best decision ever) - I chanced upon this show called ‘Behind The Attraction’. I watched 1 episode and was hooked.
For any Disney Nerd, this is a must-watch! You get to learn about so many little easter eggs about the different rides at Disney. How they were conceptualised, how they were built - the struggles, challenges and wins of the ride. It was really interesting to learn so much about the history of each ride and I have so much respect for the ‘Disney Imagineers’ who came up with all these. The amount of research and detail put into everything just makes it THAT much more cooler!
My favourite episodes were the ones of The Haunted Mansion (a ride I would NEVER have considered riding), the episode on the Disney Castles around the world, as well as the Star Wars Episode. Can’t wait to visit a Disneyland once this pandemic is over!
