Taking A Step Back 🔙👟

Taking A Step Back 🔙👟
By Jamie Lim Yin Yin • Issue #42 • View online
Hi friends!
If you noticed, there wasn’t a newsletter that went out last week - to be honest, this was semi-intentional.
Part of me was super busy, the other part was just feeling a little lost, and the last bit was just feeling tired and demoralized. So I decided - you know what? I’m just going to take a break this week. Definitely felt guilty for not keeping up with my weekly schedule, but I realized that I severely needed headspace to think through and re-prioritize stuff. I had put aside lots of things I ‘enjoyed’ to make my personal branding initiatives a priority, and I just didn’t have time to think, let alone rest.
Most of you know that I haven’t been posting up and YouTube videos lately. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I’m not able to produce anymore videos on Resume Building or Interview Preparation 😔 - so I’m taking the time to figure out where I want to take my YouTube Channel, and I want to get it right.
As one of my colleagues said ‘I see you are not a 19 year old influencer wannabe on Tiktok’ - and she’s right. I don’t want to put out content that doesn’t add value to anyone - or rather, I’m more focused on the educational piece rather than entertainment.
I think that YouTube is still an incredible platform, and I am investing 2-3 years of my time in this as a business. I absolutely love filming, editing and storytelling, and am nowhere near where I want to be. There’s still so much to learn, and so much potential in this space I haven’t yet explored.
That being said, I’ve reflected and reprioritized my time. I’ve decided to make this newsletter bi-weekly instead of a weekly one to accommodate my current time and schedule! I may eventually change it back in the future, if more time opens up!
How will I use the extra time gained? I’ll be re-purposing most of the time gained for upcoming YouTube videos, and some community building on Clubhouse! The remaining time will be left will just be for me to rest :)
As always, I appreciate all of you who have been following my journey and are continuing to support me :D
Till the next time!
Jamie

My Favourite Things This Week 💛
Oven - Anova Precision Oven - Anova
We bought an oven! Technically, this was supposed to have come sometime in January, but shipping got delayed till this month. In all honesty, we didn’t have the best experience with delivery but, we didn’t have a choice since we already paid for it 🤷🏼‍♀️
The redeeming factor was that, this combi-oven works wonders! You can use this oven for various purposes, but it uses steam 💨 and sous vous technology, and automatically cooks your food in stages to achieve the perfect outcome.
Shredded Chicken Breast right out of the oven! Perfect juicy texture, it was so easy to shred.

You know how most folks don’t like to eat chicken breast because it’s all ‘hard and tough to chew? This is going to convert you. The meat is juicy on the inside, but the skin can be 'roasted’ to perfection - and it’ll be super crispy🍗! They even provide an oven thermometer that plugs into the oven, so your food will never be overcooked!
I’ve also used the oven to toast bread / scones, and it feels like bread that has just come out of the oven, so I’m pretty impressed. We’re going to try to bake a sourdough bread soon, so fingers crossed that works out 🍞.
Toasted a Sourdough, cut a few tomato slices and on the right was my greek inspired chicken breast / yogurt / avocado :D It was an AWESOME brunch!

The cool thing is that the oven is connected to the phone app 📲 , so I can basically pre-heat the oven / or keep my food warm or monitor the progress of the oven right from my phone. They even have a few recipes that I’m going to try out!
Will keep everyone posted - maybe I’ll do a video on this?
