☑️ T'was an absolute delight to have Rowena Wilding as the latest inductee into TLM’s Pod Planet. She is a powerhouse of influencing change, having strong principles (on marketing, diversity and everything in between) and we’ll all be better marketers if we take a slither of her approach into our own work. Have a stupendous week.

[REPORT] Your future destiny as a marketer. Using data.
I’m conscious about being bias around the importance of data in our marketing careers but I keep coming across resources and research that points to that direction. It sometimes feels like it could stifle creativity but it can all go hand-in-hand. 28 pages in length for reference.

[SNAPSHOT] Jobs report for the UK.
REC’s monthly jobs report is out for the UK. Sometimes I look at this analysis and can’t work out if things are good, bad or indifferent. What is true is that there are challenges galore and plenty of opportunities for recruiters if we can’t cut through the noise.

I've had enough.
An underused tactic could be used more in recruitment, taking inspiration from e-commerce. Exit-intent popups are those (sometimes annoying) ways websites say “are you sure?” before you click off/back/away from the site. Applying this to jobs, download pages and selected others could increase conversions but you need to get the balance right. Some useful examples here (29 in fact).

Citizen creators.
As content continues to dominate many of our agendas, how we bring together the ideas and distribution can cause frustration and inconsistencies. The trend of audience-generated content adds to these complexities, this article is useful in guiding us through it. Don’t forget, citizen creators may arise internally (from colleagues in other departments, teams, and regional offices) or externally (from audience members and customers). And that creates another challenge.

Building trust with purpose.,
The gap between business operations and social/community initiatives is getting smaller. In fact, they should be interlinked as much as possible. This idea of ‘purpose personalisation’ is something we should all take a look at.

What will make you go back to the office?
68% of people said they’d go back full time if their commute was paid for and a fair percentage want their lunch paid for. Considering my order history on Uber Eats over the past couple of years, I think I’d go with that as well…

Writer's block is a good thing.
Sometimes you just don’t know what you want to say Having written 120 of these newsletters, I’ve definitely had those moments. And that’s just a single piece of content - I’d dread to think how many times I’ve had the block over the years. This article tells us to embrace writer’s block and flip it into a positive one. Handy.

Nice extension.
The team at Venn has brought together a load of useful Chrome extensions to use in a nifty little article. Not sure if I’ve got space on my toolbar.

No, not the big guy from the Avengers...
Drax are looking for a Lead Generation specialist. Unfortunately, you’ll not be working with Dave Bautista but Rana Barker who is a brilliant marketer and probably a much better boss.

I had the pleasure of being invited to Talint’s event on DEI last week. Loads of great talks from a brilliant panel (including TLMer Helena Sullivan). If you’re interested in taking a look at the slides please let me know and I’ll see if I can get permission to share… Have a good one.
