Hello! You may notice something different about this edition of Fair Warning - I am trialling a new newsletter platform. I’ll try using it this week one way, and next week a slightly different way (more like the old style - so if you hate this version, please bear with me!)… Also, let me know what you think! Links embedded in text or as headings? 🤔

On the home front
This leads rather nicely onto…
Britain’s “gender seniority gap”
Over the pond
Debt in America: An Interactive Map
What Is Your City’s Twin?
Bad chart of the week
Sometimes even Google gets it wrong (H/T WTFViz):
And now for something completely different...
Apparently there is - honest to God - an annual contest for the best banknote of the year. The Swiss 10-franc note won for 2017. Honestly, I am a fan of the Scottish ÂŁ10 note because hidden secret things and OTTERS:
OTTERS!!
OTTERS!!
If you thought THAT was weird, then this next link may be too much for you. Someone did an interview with the King of the ferret leggers. Yeah. You read that right: Some people put ferrets - aptly described here as “fur-coated evil” and “piranha with feet” - in their trousers and try to keep them there as long as possible.
It’s a riot.
That’s all for this week! Let me know what you think of the new version, and as always, forward it to people, and encourage friends to subscribe. Buy me a coffee or support Fair Warning on Patreon. I am on Twitter @SophieWarnes. Thank you!
