May Day!

The Daily Distress
The Daily Distress
We wish you a merry Wednesday as we take our regular look at the lighter side of life.

As government plans go, we actually quite like this one. Finally, a plan to deal with people who cycle on the pavement.

Cat of the Week
The lovely Lola thinking about food, which is pretty much what cats think about all of the time.
Cartoon of the Week
Comedy Song of the Week
The incomparable John Shuttleworth sings a song about his car. You probably already know that this is Graham Fellows, the man who played Jilted John, but if you don’t, you do now.

Competition of the Century
Head on over to The Daily Distress for a game of “Where’s Moggy?”
Inspired by that chap who is either called Wally or Waldo depending on which side of The Pond you live on, the Minister for the 16th Century has been hiding himself in various pictures around the website. If you can find him, you can win things. How cool is that?

What's on the Telly?
Partridge is back! The second series of This Time with Alan Partridge starts on Friday, BBC 1, 21:30. It’s guaranteed to leave the Beeb’s other comedy offering, The One Show, firmly in the shade. There’s a preview here:

1959’s The Mouse That Roared sees Peter Sellers in top form as he leads the tiny Duchy of Grand Fenwick to war with the USA. It’s on Sony at 15:45 on Thursday.
If you can’t wait that long for a Sellers fix, you can also catch The Return of the Pink Panther (1975) on Film 4 today at 16:25.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) features a cast of national treasures retiring to an Indian hotel that doesn’t quite live up to its name. It’s a likeable and engaging comedy-drama and well worth a look if you haven’t seen it before. It’s showing on 5 Star on Saturday at 18:30.

You Don't Have to be a Villa Fan, but it Helps
This week’s shameless commercialism comes in the form of this rather cool T-shirt design celebrating Villa’s 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool earlier this season.
You can catch it in various gender and style configurations via the link below.

Classic Comedy Corner
Groucho and Chico on fire in 1935’s A Night at the Opera. There’s little doubt that this features the finest pun ever made about the law of contract, or anything else for that matter.
