🔥 What’s up, global AI practitioners? This week’s #appliedAI newsletter comes straight from the City.AI team!
2017 was an amazing year for the global developments in applied AI, and for the the City.AI community in specific. As we started out in 2016, we closed the year with 4 active cities - Berlin, Amsterdam, Budapest and Stockholm. Then, 2017 saw an explosive growth with expansion to 41 cities in 31 countries on 6 continents.
Last year, 125 City.AI ambassadors ran 66 #applied AI gatherings around the world, giving an opportunity to more than 9,500 people to educate themselves further on lessons learned shared by more than 170 experts putting AI into production.
Our newsletter evolved from capturing global trends in applied AI, into combining these with unique local insights from City.AI hubs around the world. Special thanks to our ambassadors who became curators last year - Alex from Bucharest, Cate from London, Victor from Singapore, Clarissa from Sao Paulo, Juan from Bogota, Chanwit from Bangkok and Alan from Wellington! And a shoutout to our incredible guest curator - Azeem Azhar, and our long time chief curator Remco Veenenberg.
And finally, we’re proud to be part of the team that brought together the entire AI ecosystem at the WorldSummit.AI in Amsterdam, where 2,873 attendees from 73 countries learned from each other and got inspired on the developments and applications of the technology from 120 AI brains.
For 2018, we can see an even more exciting year. With the hype turning more and more into reality, with our efforts enabling more and more people applying #AI4Good, and with even more advancements in the development of this paradigm shifting technologies, the City.AI community and AI practitioners globally will push hard to support the entire AI ecosystem via events, ecosystem and educational activities to apply AI further.
