B.J. Mendelson
Hey!
I’m BJ Mendelson, and this is my newsletter. Some of you may be joining us from Twitter, and others from my assistant reaching out.
No matter how you found us, I’m glad you’re here.
But First…
Please reply to this email with just the word “Bulbasaur”— this helps to keep my email in your inbox and out of the spam folder. Or worse, the “Promotions” tab. You ever been to the “Promotions” tab? It’s a bad neighborhood. Everyone’s trying to sell you stuff and the buses there don’t run after midnight.
This is important: Add me as a contact to make sure you get this newsletter each week. It’ll take you thirty seconds and will guarantee a smile each week. Or at the very least, a polite chuckle.
All you gotta do is:
For Gmail Customers:
  • On desktop, drag this email into the Primary tab
  • On mobile, click the hamburger (three dots menu) in the top right of this email, then tap Move To, then Primary
For Apple Customers:
  • Click my email address at the top of this email (next to the From field) and choose to Add to Contact

My Mom keeps calling Omnicron, "Unicron".

You know, as in the last role Orson Welles ever had? The Galactus knockoff in "Transformers: The Animated Movie"? Yes. That Unicron.

I have not bothered to correct her once.

Me, minding my own business, watching productivity videos about @NotionHQ on @YouTube.

*YouTube updates the recommended videos section*

YouTube: Hey, want to watch this video called "Liberal hypocrisy is ruining America"?
This is a true story. I’ve been using Notion to help keep me on the straight and narrow in terms of getting things done since the pandemic started.
I use a Bullet Journal with an hour-by-hour breakdown of my day-to-day tasks and then use Notion for the bigger picture stuff for the week, month, and year. (Notion is free, by the way. This is not a paid plug or anything.)
The thing is, Notion has a ton of ways you can customize it. And so it can be overwhelming. The best resource to learn how to use Notion is on YouTube and… You see where this is going.
YouTube’s algorithm is notorious for sending people toward right-wing propaganda. I’m not entirely sure how watching personal productivity videos lends itself to Nazi propaganda, but there’s a solid joke in there somewhere for those who want to find it.
And to answer your second question, no, I did not watch the video about “Liberal hypocrisy running America”.
Remember: Republicans like to say in the media that Democrats are doing all these crazy things. In reality, they’re doing the exact thing they’re accusing the Democrats of doing.
They tell on themselves through the lies they tell you.

What Am I Working On For You?
I went down with COVID over the weekend, so not a hell of a lot got done. But it’s a good thing I’m working with a team to keep the ball rolling for you.
Over at She-Hulk Expert, we have a new writer taking the reins from me to answer your frequently asked questions about Marvel’s Jade Giantess.
I’ll continue working on funny summaries of classic She-Hulk issues. I only need to do one of those a month. Seems like a schedule I can stick to.
The only hiccup is that these summaries were supposed to be no more than 750 words, but some issues have A LOT going on, so there may be an increase in the word count down the road. (I can’t cut certain things because they’ll come up again in future issues.)
This word count thing is important because once the summaries are done, I was going to hire someone to BE She-Hulk and read the summaries to you in the form of a podcast.
A higher word count means that’ll cost more money to record. That’s ok! It just means this project is going to take slightly longer than I would have liked to finish.
Anyway, the new summary will be up the same time you get this email, but I recommend starting with issue one’s funny summary here.
With that now done, I’m back to editing the manuscript for Social Media Is BS: 10th Anniversary Edition. I’m really hoping to get that done by the end of the month, but we’ll see.
Either way, that project is still on track for a September 2022 release. Everyone reading this will get the electronic edition of the manuscript for free as a.pdf

This week, I’m highlighting Two Geeks Talking.
“For 13 years, Two Geeks Talking’s host Kurt Sasso has been interviewing Entertainment personalities through an honest and thought-provoking show called Two Geeks Talking.
In August 2008, Kurt changed the podcast landscape when he started TGT Webcomics. Since then the name has changed to Two Geeks Talking but the concept and in-depth interviews of guests has not changed. We have featured in-depth conversations with iconic personalities such as Jessica Nigri, Gavin Free, Kris Holden-Ried, Allison Scagliotti, Vlad Yudin, Erika Eleniak, Missy Peregrym, Brian Tochi, Psycatt, Maggie Castle and Melanie Leshman. It became a worldwide success, with over 600,000 views on YouTube and over 500,000 downloads as a podcast.”
Below is an interview with Dirk Manning, who wrote a fantastic graphic novel about the life of current AEW, and former WCW personality, Tony Schiavone.
Growing up, Tony Schiavone was the voice of my childhood. I would stay up until two am to watch WCW Worldwide Wrestling on the local CBS affiliate. Tony called all those matches every week. It’s been really nice to see him get a second act on television after being off it for twenty years. At one point between gigs on TV, Tony was working at a Starbucks in Atlanta.
Crazy, right? Except, that kind of thing is way more common than you would think in the entertainment business. Sure it’s glitz, but these days it does NOT pay all the bills.
