How To React When Artificial Intelligence Tells You That God Is Dead

AJ Jacobs shares his best creative advice, BJ talks Pride Month, and a couple of computer-generated voices want to start some shit. All this and “Who Not How” reviewed in this very email.

Hey! It’s Pride Month.
Something I’m always excited about.
First, because as your friendly neighborhood bisexual author, I love it.
But second, and a bit more importantly for our purposes, we get to watch this hilarious corporate dance again.
You know the one I’m talking about.
It’s when American Airlines changes all its social media logos to LGBTQIA+ flags, but then also donates $50,000 to Mitch McConnell’s re-election campaign, as they did in 2020.
Remember 2020?
I know. 2020 feels like sixteen million years ago.
It’s impossible to boycott all the companies that do shit like that.
We live in a country run by an oligarchy, one that doesn’t mind monopolies or oligopolies as long as the oligarchs stand to benefit.
I don’t know what you do about stuff like this, but I take notes.
I haven’t flown on American Airlines since that donation. I fly almost entirely with Alaska Airlines when I can.
But do you know what the problem is with boycotting one corporation and supporting another one?
So, what do you do?
The solution is an old one.
If we’re going to survive and thrive in the 21st Century, we’re all going to need to be more like water.
I feel like I’m forgetting something. Maybe you should read to the end of this email to find it.

Team work makes the dream work
Ok. Listen.
If you’ve read a Tim Ferriss book, or “The E-Myth Revisited” by Michael E. Gerber, then you don’t need to read this book.
If you’ve read any modern management book, most of which borrow from Gerber’s book, then you don’t need to read this book.
But if you’re a one-woman content machine, and you feel like you’re overwhelmed with how you’re going to get stuff done then …

I met A.J. a really, really, long time ago. Not long after “The Year of Living Biblically” came out. But I was a fan going back to his very first book, “The Know It All”.
So, I knew I had to interview him as one of the first guests for WAYWO.TV.
You can listen to AJ’s interview where all podcasts are available*, or if you prefer video, you can watch the whole thing right here.

#ICYMI
As mentioned last week, I’m going to use this space to plug my old podcast, “Rosie & BJ Save The World”.
Given that crypto is (again) in the shitter, now seemed like the perfect time to share our episode on crypto.
Enjoy and listen to how wrong (or right?) 2019 BJ was!
How to Reach Out and Touch Me (Appropriately)
As always, if you enjoyed this week’s newsletter, you can help pay the rent by buying me a coffee.
I’m over at @BJMendelson on Instagram and you can email me at bj@bjmendelson.com
The number is 646-331-8341. Yes. That’s my real number. But! Please don’t call it.
I will only answer the phone if you are Melissa O'Neil from ABC’s “The Rookie”.
And that’s ONLY if you want to ask me out on a date.
