This has a been a busy week as I was a judge at The Young Africa Centre for their Hackathon and delivered a short keynote on Class Diversity & Social Mobility in Tech. I also moderated a discussion on Music & Tech for TechHub and Mixtape Madness. Finally I enjoyed an entertaining performance from the young Grime artist, J Hus at the o2 Academy.
This week, social mobility and class have been a running theme for me as I reflect on how startups can influence 3 issues impacting the working class in London.
1. Student Debt (lasts as long as a mortgage for some)
2. Cost of Rent (over 50% of wages)
3. Cost of Childcare (affordability of quality care)
You can read more on all three issues from Kairos VC here.
