Throughout school, in my first retail job at M&S and even in my church we never had diversity & inclusion officers. Why? because it was each of our responsibility to ensure people from different backgrounds felt welcome and could bring their whole selves to work.
It is for this reason that to me it is a serious call for concern that so many institutions failing at creating and nurturing diverse and inclusive workplaces have this role. This week’s article delves deeper into this issue as we see an example of a D&I officer at Apple.
This week I attended the launch event for AfroTech Fest. A festival taking place in London across January 26th - 27th. Bringing together people of colour working in the technology sector. Sign up to their mailing list for tickets here.
