Had great discussions this week about “Diversity-as-lip-service” with the founder of Hustle Crew. Many people feel that in the UK we have very old, traditional industries which have been running profitably for years such as Banking and Law. Rather than disrupt the status quo and embrace diversity and inclusion, they protect the old way off doing things.

Even though we acknowledge that Silicon Valley has a diversity problem, we are seeing them embrace open dialogue and putting their money where their mouth is. Starting with publicly revealing diversity reports, rewriting company policy, hiring diverse leadership and even paying McKinsey type fees for consulting on the issue from firms such as Joelle Emerson’s Paradigm Consulting.
What will it take for us to shift and make diversity & inclusive part of our DNA in life let alone business in the UK? 🤔
