Last week, I had the pleasure of sharing my career journey at the launch of The London Chamber’s of Commerce (LCCI), Black Business Association (recording below). All those interested in registering or finding out more, apply above.
In recent weeks, I’ve been growing in concern with the ‘entrepreneurship movement.’ Whilst it is encouraging on the one hand that so many people want to start a business. On the other hand, it worries me that some people look down on having a job, disregard the corporate experience and want to be their own boss.
Who will these entrepreneurs hire? A much needed conversation that is needed is around nurturing underrepresented talent into leadership. These are the positions of influence which can truly address the systemic inequalities that we face in startups and venture capital. Yet, such little light is shone on the talent issue.
Food for thought……
Have a productive week.
