AR/VR Weekly
One of my favorite Oculus Quest exclusives is coming to PlayStation, and I’m excited for my friends with PSVR to give it a spin: Vader Immortal.
Vader: Immortal will hit PSVR sometime this summer. I include it in my “must-try VR games.” Many folks talk about Beat Saber as it’s a lightsaber game, but with Vader, you’re wielding a real one within minutes of jumping into the action. Of course, it’s against training drones (remember that little sphere shooting those stinging blaster bolts at Luke while under Obi-Wan’s glare onboard the Falcon?). They even make that little “whoosh” sound as they fly around the arena.
And it comes with a pretty good story, too, which is something you won’t get in Beat Saber (unless, like me, you’re the sort of person who makes up stories in your head for slicing all those blocks to those funky tunes). And folks are thirsting for good story-based Star Wars games. (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has moved over 10 million copies, EA said when reporting its quarterly earnings Tuesday, showing that there is a big market for such games).
We may not be getting any news of next-generation PSVR (other than the PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility with the current PSVR), but it’s nice to see that Sony still has some good things in store for its current VR platform.
